Bollywood is mostly underrated due to its lack of visibility in world cinema. But not all Bollywood movie deserves that treatment. Here we present you with a list of our top 12 Bollywood movies which due to their storyline or cinematography have set a standard for even Hollywood.


1. URI (2019)


Divided over five chapters, the film chronicles the events of the surgical strike conducted by the Indian military against suspected militants in Pakistan occupied Kashmir. It tells the story of the 11 tumultuous events over which the operation was carried out. Indian army special forces carry out a covert operation to avenge the killing of fellow army men at their base by a terrorist group. (IMDB)




2.Special 26 (2013)


Based on real life incidents that occurred in India in 1987-88, the storyline revolves around a group of con artists who pulled off many clever robberies during 1980s, and robbed famous businessmen and politicians by pretending to be the CBI or Income tax officers and conducting raids. 3. Taare Zameen Par (2007)


Ishaan Awasthi is an eight-year-old child whose world is filled with wonders that no one else seems to appreciate; colours, fish, dogs and kites are just not important in the world of adults, who are much more interested in things like homework, marks and neatness. And Ishaan just cannot seem to get anything right in class. When he gets into far more trouble than his parents can handle, he is packed off to a boarding school to 'be disciplined'. Things are no different at his new school, and Ishaan has to contend with the added trauma of separation from his family. 8. Barfi (2012)


Set in the 1970s in a pretty corner of India, Barfi. is the story of three young people who learn that love can neither be defined nor contained by society's norms of normal and abnormal. Barfi, a hearing and speech impaired boy falls in love with Shruti. In spite of her deep affection for Barfii, Shruti gives into societal and parental pressure to marry a 'normal' man and lead a 'normal' life.(IMDB)



9. Kahaani (2012)

11.Chopsticks (2019)


Chopsticks is an Indian Hindi-language comedy drama film directed by Sachin Yardiand produced by Ashvini Yardi. It stars Abhay Deoland Mithila Palkar in the lead roles. The film is a story of a woman who is referred to an enigmatic con man who agrees to help recover her stolen car from a thug for free, and how it brings about change in their lives.



12. Mirzya (2016)


Childhood sweethearts Monish and Suchitra get separated while growing up. Their romance reignites when they meet as adults, but she is engaged to the local prince.
